El León de Oro: Città di Arezzo Award

“El León de Oro” mixed choir entered the 56th International Polyphonic Contest ‘Guido d’Arezzo’, held in the Italian city of Arezzo from the 15th to the 21st September 2008. It was awarded the ‘Città di Arezzo’ Grand Prix, thus becoming the most outstanding choir of the competition. This award qualifies the Asturian choir for the European Gran Prix of Choral Singing, to be held within the “Florilège Vocal de Tours” in Tours (France) in May 2009.

Undoubtedly, this is the greatest achievement of the “El León de Oro” so far, since in one single competition it won First Prize in all of the participating categories: romantic music, contemporary music, polyphony, folklore, audience prize, and the special prize to the best performance of the compulsory piece.
